Boots Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask

*ahem*

HELLOOOOOOOO DEAR!

This is my new beauty blog! Y'all know how I roll - my favorite thing in the WORLD is my face. My skin. My eyebrows. My hair. My pores. My face. I'm the one that has to stare at it all the time. I'm always up in my grill, so it may as well be polished. My best friend Stephanie and I have been known to spend two hours and $100 in a drugstore on various beauty products we've decided we can no longer breathe without. Conditioner. Nail polish. Mud masks. Bring it on. I also often receive samples from various companies to try out. I have decided to wrangle all my tumblr posts and Facebook posts and tweets here and have ONE spot for all these products I try. Some times I love them. Sometimes they are OK but not for me. Occasionally I am furious and want my money back. Or at least an apology. Today's sample from Boots Botanics is fabulous.

(Disclaimer: I received this product free from Influenster & Boots)

Special note about that photo: you'll notice that the product is sitting on my totally amazing penny coffee table. You'll always know that these are MY photos with MY actual opinions because you'll always see the product on the penny table.

(I used rubber cement, there are about $25.00 worth of pennies, and it took a whole weekend of me sitting on a yoga ball gluing them down one by one at random.
Glass on the top)

I received this mask in my J'Adore VoxBox from Influenster, and it was immediately the product I was most excited about trying out

Our area received a good bit of winter weather on Sunday, so I made some muffins and prepared for a few days of quality time with myself. What a perfect time to try out my new clay mask!

The first thing I noticed was the lack of awful smell. Lets be real - I LOVE clay masks but sometimes they do not have the sweetest scent. The Shine Away mask smells herbal and fresh. Its also not mega thick which makes it a breeze to apply evenly. I left it to dry for about 25 minutes (I measure time in episodes of 30 Rock, so this is a guess), a warm wipe with a washcloth and my face could breath again. It felt clean without feeling too tight or tingly. It felt soft and supple. Even the next day when I woke up I was oil free. According to the label the active ingredient, clarifying willowbark plant extract, is a natural source of salicylic acid which "helps naturally refine skin texture and actively target imperfections". I believe it, sister.
